NTUST and Architecture Institute of the ROC held the 21st Conference on the Outputs of Architecture invited renowned architect Toyo Ito, and other specialists, to talk to the NTUST faculty and students.
This is the first time that NTUST Department of Architecture has invited Toyo Ito to talk to NTUST teachers and students in a relaxed manner. More than 400 NTUST teachers and students, and colleagues in the architectural field, participated in the conference to share their views. Toyo Ito gave a talk on "An Architecture That Looks Like Trees".
Toyo Ito encouraged the students by talking to them about his own life experience. He said, “I started working on large-scale cases and became well-known in architecture business when I was 50-years old.” Thus he encouraged the students to maintain passions and improve themselves continuously.
NTUST president Shi-Shuenn Chen and Professor Wei-Hwa Chiang, chairman of the Department of Architecture, said that it is hoped that the visit of international experts may promote the reputation of NTUST in the field of architecture. It is also hoped that through international exchange and cooperation, the Department of Architecture and Taiwan Architecture Technology Center may become more internationalized.
Besides, famous architect Ming-Hsiu Wu, a part-time professor of NTUST Department of Architecture, introduced the architectural design of the contrast between human beings and the environments, and, through residence design and research, developed a series of healthy residences based on a series of living habits and the environments.
